Nap and Bath

This one is long and there are many moments with nothing happening, but it's worth it to see those smiles and almost giggles.

2 months!

2 month check-up:
-14lbs (95th percentile)
-24" (92nd percentile)
We are so happy and lucky to have a "textbook" baby - everything is perfect!  And Eliza is obviously the cutest too.
She isn't too impressed in this pic. haha

Happy Chatter

Eliza is realizing she has lungs.

All Smiles, Most of the Time

I almost entitled this post "all smiles all the time", but there is no way anyone would believe that!  There are plenty of cries and little frantic moments between the adorable ones.

Learning About Texas!

All the way from Texas, Eliza got some really cute outfits and an ABC book about Texas from Auntie Rachel! The 'R' is for Rattlesnake has been replaced by 'R' is for Texas Rangers - when Eliza becomes a baseball fan, it looks like she will already have a favourite team.
By the look on her face, I think Eliza is already contemplating this season's starting lineup!
Let's Go Rangers!!

Finding Fingers

Eliza is finding out that her fingers/hands are soothing to suck on, but she's still learning how to get them into her mouth.

Sounds of the Day

Sounds of the day :)

Eliza's 1st Hockey Stick

If we have chatted about hockey at any point, then I have surely mentioned my friend Bryan Helmer! I first interviewed Bryan a few years ago when he was a member of the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League and we became great friends. His support and encouragement has really helped my writing career. We often hear about role models in sport, well let me tell you, there's no doubt that Bryan is at the top of that list!!

I have had several talks with Bryan in the past few years about becoming a dad and being a dad... In fact, when I first held Eliza, one of my first thoughts was, "Bryan was right - becoming a dad is awesome!!"

While Dianne was pregnant, I asked him for some advice - how I could make sure that our son or daughter becomes a hockey fan too since I work with the NHL Alumni Association. His advice was that we get a mini-stick into his or her hands as soon as we can...

Eliza celebrated her one-month birthday yesterday and we received a lovely package in the mail from Bryan, Pam, Cade and Rylan. Of course, Uncle Bryan made sure to send along an autographed mini-stick for Eliza!! There's no doubt that our "junior writer" is on her way to loving hockey now that she has her first stick and I bet that she'll be interviewing Cade about his hockey career in a few years time.

More cute sounds.
It's so great to see your baby sleeping soundly - and completely adorable to hear these sounds.

After a week of being home we are feeling settled.. sort of.
That is aside from getting hardly any sleep and being thrown up on, and constantly doing laundry, pumping milk and nursing.

I am so focused on how much Eliza is eating  I have to remind myself to eat sometimes.

Eliza has gained 2oz per day since arriving home, and is over her birth weight already (8 lbs 11oz).  It's such a relief for us, as she lost nearly 11% of her weight in the first 2 days in hospital.
Sleeping angel.  There are few sights sweeter than a peacefully asleep baby.

Eliza Lillian Rodger came into the world at 5:59 pm on October 19, 2012.  Mom, Dianne and dad, Andrew are blissfully happy and enjoying every moment.
She was born at the Civic hospital in Ottawa.
